Every swim family has met the same problem: training finishes, the kit goes in the bag soaking, and the bag goes in the car. By Wednesday the whole boot smells like a changing room.
Shake it out before it goes in
Wide-gauge mesh drains standing up. Hold the bag by the base for a count of ten in the car park and most of the water is gone before you have found your keys.
Give it air, not a plastic bag
The worst thing you can do is seal a wet costume inside a carrier bag “just for the drive home”. Mesh works because air moves through it. Sling the bag over a headrest and leave the window down a crack.
- Drain standing up, never flat.
- Separate the dry pocket before you leave poolside.
- Hang the bag up at home, do not fold it away damp.
Do those three and the bag is dry by the next session, without a tumble dryer anywhere near it.
